Meeting with residents at the Governor’s Walk Retirement Residence
On May 27th, I enjoyed visiting and meeting with residents at the Governor’s Walk Retirement Residence, located at 150 Stanley Avenue in New Edinburgh. Situated across from a park, this caring environment for seventy-five seniors has been something to be celebrated in our Ottawa-Vanier community since 2011.
The staff at Governor's Walk is dedicated to the residents, as I witnessed in the welcoming and lively atmosphere I encountered while meeting them. Serving residents needing assisted living and memory care, its mission to provide compassion, dignity and respect to residents shines through.
Residents’ initiatives are remarkable; from helping to supply outfits for the last Prom at Rideau High, the residents are busy. Hearing stories from the residents was genuinely heartwarming, and we had a good time. Thank you for the tour of the residence, which has a charming clock tower, rooftop terrace lounge, and chapel.
Support for our seniors is crucial. The Ontario Liberals plan to build 30,000 new long-term care spaces and redevelop 28,000 existing spaces by 2028; our seniors will be looked after and supported in our community.
