Visit to the University of Ottawa's New Science and Health Building
I had the honor of exploring the classrooms, research spaces, simulation centers, and laboratories at the University of Ottawa. With 175 years of excellence in education and research, the University continues to serve as a beacon of academic achievement and innovation, shaping the minds of future leaders.
The opening of the new Science and Health Building in September 2023, after two years of construction, is a testament to the institution’s commitment to providing world-class education. This state-of-the-art facility offers cutting-edge spaces for over 49,000 students, including 15,000 francophone students. Some classrooms are designed to accommodate more than 120 students, providing a modern environment that fosters collaboration and innovation. The new building houses programs in critical fields such as audiology, rehabilitation, nutrition, and pediatrics, available in both French and English. These programs are not only advancing academic knowledge but also empowering students to gain practical experience, develop leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to research and healthcare advancements.
Education is key to addressing the challenges our society faces. A robust educational system ensures the growth of future professionals and researchers who will drive innovation in healthcare, science, and beyond. I was pleased to be welcomed warmly by Lucie Thibault, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Kathryn Moore, Director of Government Relations; Yves Pelletier, Associate Vice President of Francophonie; and had the privilege of engaging in insightful conversations with passionate and dedicated professionals from the Faculty.
