Ontario Government Announces More Beds in Correctional Facilities: Is This Really the Right Approach?

The Ontario government has announced that it is adding more beds to several adult correctional facilities. Is that really good news?

In my opinion, the necessity to expand our jail system is concerning. In fact, I think it highlights the urgent need to address underlying issues rather than resorting to more incarceration. Investing in supportive housing, mental health, and addiction support services should be our priority.
