Great Community Event at Wateridge Village Winter Book & Fun Fair

It was a fantastic day at the Wateridge Village Winter Book & Fun Fair, where MP Mona Fortier and I had the pleasure of attending alongside local families and community members. This event truly captured the spirit of our neighborhood, with a day full of books, local artisans, and fun activities for all ages. Here’s what made the day so special:

Books for All Ages: A wide variety of pre-loved books in excellent condition were available, offering something for everyone—whether you enjoy fiction, non-fiction, or children's literature.

Silent Auction & Kids’ Crafting Table: The silent auction featured an incredible selection of items, and the kids enjoyed getting creative at the crafting table. Warm hot cocoa and tasty treats were available.

Storyteller Gail Anglin from Ottawa Storytellers: Gail’s storytelling sessions, filled with music and captivating tales, were a big hit with families.

Local Artisan Market: The market was brimming with unique, locally-made items, perfect for gifts or treating yourself. Some of the standout vendors included:

  • ApricitySox – Cozy, ethically made wool socks.
  • Le Momo – Handmade Tibetan dumplings for lunch or a snack.
  • LA Jewelry – Beautiful, one-of-a-kind clay beaded jewelry.
  • Olha – Traditional Jordanian baked pies filled with savory delights.
  • Anne Simon – Handmade stained glass mosaics and fused glass jewelry.
  • Jessie Vallée – YA Fantasy author of Frost & Shadows.
  • LoveJewel – Handcrafted jewelry by Wateridge’s Mireille Khouri.
  • Crochet by Ruth – Custom crocheted plushies, tapestries, and more.
  • Isabelle Roy – Holistic chiropractor offering health solutions.
  • James Doyle – Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Ottawa offering self-defense and Jiu-Jitsu lessons.
  • Eli Duern Photography – Capturing unique moments with wildlife and portrait photography.

A big thank you to the Manor Park Community Council and Ottawa Street Market for helping bring this wonderful market together. It was a great way to spend a Saturday, support local businesses, and enjoy the warmth of our community.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made this event a success. Looking forward to next year!
