For Efficiency and Fairness at the Ontario Land Tribunal

The Ontario Land Tribunal plays a crucial role in the timely resolution of cases, but to prevent long delays, it must operate efficiently. This requires the government to allocate more resources, including additional adjudicators and staff, to ensure timely decision-making.

The adjudicator nomination process must be fair, transparent, and based on merit, ensuring that those appointed are qualified and capable of handling the complexities of land use cases. While technology has proven valuable in improving efficiency, in-person hearings, especially for vulnerable populations, should continue to ensure access and fairness.

Finally, the needs of Ontario’s francophone population must be carefully considered to ensure equal access to the Tribunal's services. A review of the Tribunal’s operations should address these needs, fostering an environment of inclusivity and justice for all.
