Celebrating Canada Day 2024

This Canada Day, I had the privilege of attending several wonderful events across Ottawa-Vanier that brought our community together in celebration. It was an inspiring day filled with joy, pride, and connection, from enjoying a pancake breakfast to witnessing new Canadians take the oath of citizenship.

Here’s a recap of the day’s events:

Mayor’s Annual Canada Day Breakfast for Seniors

It was wonderful to see hundreds of seniors enjoying the Mayor’s Annual Canada Day Breakfast this morning at the Aberdeen Pavilion in Lansdowne Park. The Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, joined us for this special occasion. A big thank you to everyone who attended and made the event so memorable.

Lindenlea Pancake Breakfast

This morning, I had the pleasure of attending the Lindenlea Pancake Breakfast for Canada Day organized by the Lindenlea Community Association. It was a lovely chance to gather with families and friends at the Lindenlea Community Centre, where we enjoyed delicious pancakes in their newly expanded back garden. A big thank you to everyone who made this event possible. I was happy to share this time with MP Mona Fortier and city councillor Rawlson King.

Muséoparc Vanier Citizenship Ceremony

I also had the pleasure of attending a citizenship ceremony at Muséoparc Vanier, where 25 new Canadians were officially granted Canadian citizenship. It was truly heartwarming to see their happiness and pride as they became part of our great country. This ceremony was a beautiful way to celebrate Canada Day and welcome new members to our community.

Pineview Community Association Annual BBQ

I couldn’t miss the annual BBQ organized by the Pineview Community Association. The event continues to grow each year, and this year’s warm weather made it the perfect occasion to celebrate together. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a wonderful gathering for all.

ACB Wellness Resource Centre BBQ

Another highlight of the day was attending the ACB Wellness Resource Centre’s Annual BBQ. It was an enjoyable event with live music, delicious food, and exciting raffles. It’s inspiring to see the ACB thriving in their new location in St. Laurent, offering expanded services to the community.

Legion Eastview Branch 462 Canada Day Ceremony

Finally, I joined the Legion Eastview Branch 462 Canada Day ceremony at St. Cyr. This event was vibrant, with live music, great food, and prizes. It was uplifting to see so many people come together in support of our community, showing the strength of our local connections.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to participate in these events and to see the community come together in such a meaningful way on Canada Day.
