January 15th Update

Hello,

Best wishes for the new year! I hope for us all to get through the challenges ahead with our heads above water. I understand well that for some it might not be easy and I want to reiterate that my staff members and I are here to help. If you need support, we'll do our best to assist in any way possible.

Stay-at-Home Order
We absolutely need to stop the spread. As of yesterday, everyone is required to remain at home except for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, for exercise or for essential work. This stay-at-home order is meant to limit mobility and reduce everyone's contact with individuals outside your household. Despite conflicting and confusing information, just remember the basic rule: stay at home if you don't have to go out. Gathering with others might be costly. Visit the COVID-19 public health measures and restrictions webpage to learn more about the details.

Vaccine
The vaccine is on its way and it represents the light at the end of the tunnel. While we would like for the roll-out to be more effective, it is really important that until we see a significant decrease in the number of positive cases of COVID-19, we all do our part to support our health system and healthcare workers.

The current government COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan aims at completing our high-risk populations in phase 1 and then moves onto essential workers, older adults and at-risk populations in phase 2. Phase 3 includes remaining eligible Ontarians and vaccination would begin in August 2021. Read the full provincial technical briefing here.

Kids Come First COVID-19 Care Clinic
Pediatricians and family physicians in Ottawa have collaborated to bring this new service to the COVID-19 CHEO Assessment Centre at Brewer Park. Families can now book an appointment with the Kids Come First COVID-19 Care Clinic if:

  • The family cannot access an in-person appointment with their primary care provider.
  • The child has a new symptom such as fever, cough, vomiting, belly pain, earache, or runny nose.
  • The child is older than 6 months.

Visit this link to book an appointment.

The people of Ottawa-Vanier have proven time and time again that they care about others and that they can take on any challenge. Let’s take this one on together. If you need help, feel free to give my office a call at 613-744-4484 or send us an email at lcollard.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org.
